Flat Tires
I have a flat tire on my mountain bike. In fact, I have had three flat tires this month. I don’t know how they happened. Everything seemed fine when I left the bike in the garage after my ride. However, the next time I went out to ride, the tire was flat. When my husband changed the tire, he found a thorn.
Thorns. We all have them. Thorns are called sin. Sin hurts. Sin pokes a hole in our relationship with God. Sin pokes a hole in our relationships with friends and family. If the thorn is left unattended, soon all the spiritual air leaks out of us. Then, we are deflated. How can we fix the leak? First, if you have never asked Jesus into your heart, I encourage you to do so now. Romans 10:9 says, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:13 goes on to tell us, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” If you have already accepted Jesus as your personal Savior but are entangled in any sin, read 1 John 1:9. It says, “If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Better news than that can not be found. Pray, read God’s word, and let Him fill you up.
