“Is that the real Jesus?” asked a female road racer, who saw our Team X4J jerseys at a recent event. “He is real,” we replied. Sadly she said, “I don’t believe you!”
She is not the only one operating in unbelief. Unfortunately she has, because of her unbelief in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection as payment for sins, (see Romans 10:9-13) chosen hell over heaven and rejected the abundant, full life Jesus has for us here on earth.
Christians also operate in unbelief. Very simply said, we do not believe the promises of God. Unbelief is the absence of faith created by the lack of reading and hearing God’s Word. But we don’t have to live this way.
I want to list for you some of the promises of God:
- “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. …for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:9, 13
- “With God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
- “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” Matthew 18:19
- “God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
- “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5
- “Jesus is coming back!” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
These are just a handful of promises listed in God’s Word. Read them for yourself. Give God’s Word a try. You have tried everything else. Why not try Jesus?
“You are my witness,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.” Isaiah 43:10
Jesus - the Voice of Truth...like Casting Crowns so elegantly puts it in their worship..."Out of all of the voices calling out to me...I will choose to listen to the voice of truth (Jesus)"... and trust in His promise of Good News for a hope in a glorious eternity!
